Ground Water

The Columbus Water Works has for years land applied its biosolids to the fields located at the South Columbus Water Resources Facility and Oxbow Meadows (see Biosolids Program). This requires CWW to grow crops on the fields to uptake nutrients to reduce the levels in the soils. CWW’s laboratory samples monitoring wells around these fields to ensure ground water that flows to the river is not overloaded by these nutrients and flowing to the river. These test are performed monthly and reported to the GA EPD.
