CSO Testing

The Columbus Water Works (CWW) operates two facilities that are designed to treat a combined waste stream of stormwater and sewage from a particular section of Columbus (see Combined Sewer Treatment). CWW operates these facilities by permit from the GA Environmental Protection Division (EPD). These permits require CWW to sample and analyze not only the waters that flow from the treatment processes but also in the Chattahoochee River where the waters are discharged. The intent is to ensure that there are no adverse impacts to the river from these treatment processes.
