Our Employee Services Department is responsible for the recruitment of applicants and facilitating the hiring process of all employees. Our recruitment, selection and promotion processes and decisions are based on the knowledge, skills, experience and abilities of each applicant. In addition to the management of the recruitment program, our Employee Services Department is also responsible for the administration of the benefits program, wellness, workers' compensation, safety and workforce strategic initiatives. Application Procedures and Pre-employment Requirements
Thank you for your interest in exploring the exciting career opportunities with Columbus Water Works.

Applications for Employment must be submitted in order to be considered for a posted position and incomplete or unsigned applications cannot be processed. The minimum educational requirement for all applicants is a high school diploma or GED and most positions require a valid driver's license. For some posted positions, there are additional job-related requirements, such as certifications, additional formal education or special licenses. Applications may be submitted for posted positions listed on the Current Job Postings link. You may submit an initial resume indicating your interest in any posted position listed; however, a resume is not a substitute for an application. Once submitted, applications are reviewed to ensure alignment of education, experience, skills and qualifications with the position requirements. The credentials of eligible applicants are then verified by personnel in the Employee Services Department and interviews scheduled with the hiring department. Due to the large volume of applications received, the processing requirements, and the diligence required to review each application, generally, you will only be contacted if you are selected for an interview. Employee Benefits
The following is a summary of the benefits available to Water Works employees. Some of the benefits offered are dependent upon an employees' date of hire, job class, or other factors. For more information, please contact the Employee Services Department at 706-649-3316 or 706-649-3436.

Holidays
11 Paid Holidays Per Year

Vacation and Personal Leave
10-25 Days Paid Vacation Per Year, depending upon Years of Service. This equates to 10 days of vacation per year during the first complete 5 years of employment with one additional day per year for each year thereafter, for a maximum of 25 days per year.

Sick Leave
Sick Leave is accrued at 13.16 days per year which is an average of 8.77 hours per month; hours add up to 105.3 per year. Current sick time is accrued up to 240.0 hours with the excess unused sick time accruing in reserve sick time up to 800 hours.

Tuition Reimbursement
Reimbursement is limited to one hundred percent of "in-state" tuition for a maximum of 10 quarter hours or 7 semester hours, and fifty percent of the cost of books per quarter or semester. Assistance may be given in the form of full payment within the limits of the budget for group participation in job-related workshops, seminars, conferences and training sessions.

Medical and Dental Insurance
Columbus Water Works offers Group Medical Coverage through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Georgia to all full-time regular employees at a nominal cost. CWW has a triple-option plan: In-Network - Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Network Plus - Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and Out-of-Network - Blue Chip Indemnity. Dental Insurance is also provided at no additional cost to the employee.

Retirement
The Columbus Water Works participates in a Defined Benefit Pension (Retirement) Plan provided by the Columbus Consolidated Government. Contributions to the plan are provided by the Columbus Water Works on behalf of eligible employees. Normal retirement is age 65 with early retirement with reduced benefits at age 55.

Deferred Compensation Program (457)
This plan provides voluntary investment options designed to supplement retirement income. Two current providers are Hartford and VALIC. Employees may contribute as much as 25% of their annual salary, up to $15,000 per year. CWW offers an Employer Contribution Match Program, which matches 25% of employee contributions up to $700 per year.

Life Insurance
The Columbus Water Works offers employee Group Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance, plus Dependent Group Life Insurance Programs. Active eligible employees life insurance benefit is 2x the employee's annual earnings, rounded to the next higher $1000. This coverage is provided at no cost to the employee. Life insurance coverage for dependents (Dependent Life) is offered at a nominal cost.
