Happy Halloween 2019
2019 halloween
Halloween is just around the corner and families all over the community are preparing. Its tradition for families to search for the perfect costume, decorations, and treats for those little trick-or-treaters. This year, trick or treat night will take place on Thursday, October 31. Below are some tips to help keep you safe as you enjoy the Halloween festivities.

Trick or Treat Safety Tips:

  1. The Columbus Police Department advises trick-or-treating between 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  2. Plan costumes that are bright and reflective and that fit correctly to prevent entanglement and tripping.
  3. Consider non-toxic makeup and decorative hats as an alternative to masks, because masks can limit or block eyesight.
  4. Stay in a group and communicate where you will be going. Remain on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk.
  5. A parent or a responsible adult should accompany young children to ensure safety, any child under the age of 12 should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  6. Leave electronics in a purse or a bag you are carrying. Have them ready if necessary, but focus on keeping together in a group, communication, and keeping your head up to be observant.
  7. Always check the candy given to your child before letting them eat it.

While trick-or-treating is the traditional way to have family fun, there are also many other family-friendly activities taking place in our community to celebrate Halloween.
