First Virtual Town Hall Meeting Wrap-Up
Town Hall Meeting 2020On Wednesday October 21st, Columbus Water Works hosted our very first Virtual Town Hall Meeting streamed live on YouTube.

It was an opportunity to discuss our upcoming 2021 rate strategy, how these funds are used, and why this funding matters to our community.

Here at CWW, we pride ourselves on delivering the best possible service to our customers, and a big part of that is making sure that our infrastructure is well maintained.

Sadly, the aging and normal wear and tear on our pipes, pumps, and plants is relentless. It's truly a never-ending process to stay one step ahead of the curve.

However, with the safety of both our water supply and environment on the line, we do not like to take chances. This is why being proactive with maintenance and upkeep is extremely important.

We work hard to try to keep costs down while still operating at the highest possible level. Taking into consideration that replacing failed infrastructure due to emergencies can be 3 to 5 times higher than normal, performing preventative maintenance is key to also staying cost effective.

Therefore, each year we review our financial plan to ensure our funding stays in line with the needs of maintaining the vast infrastructure needed to keep the water safe for us all.

The Town Hall Meetings give us an opportunity to lay out our proposal, as well as to get feedback directly from the community. We know that rate increases are never fun, but minimum annual rate increases help to keep costs consistent and prevent larger increases in the future. We've found that this makes it easier for our customers to budget for their water bills year to year.

We welcome feedback from the community, and we want our customers to have the chance to get their questions answered. So if you'd like more information about the upcoming rate strategy, or if you have a question you would like to ask, please join us at the next Town Hall meeting November 4th at 12pm.
