Billy G. Turner

Interim President

        Billy G. Turner started January 5, 2012 to fill an interim term as Columbus Water Works President until a national search firm completes the process of a replacement for Robert L. Tant who died unexpectedly on December 19, 2011 after a battle with cancer.  

Billy Turner who served in the Columbus Water Works Presidents position for 20 years has stayed very active in utility and project management since his retirement in 2009. He has performed utility management assessments in Little Rock, AR, Jefferson Co., AL, Greenville and Grand Strand, SC, and Pompano Beach, FL, and is currently helping the local team manage the River Restoration/Whitewater project and has performed training for the Georgia Association of Water Professionals and the Water Environment Federation. Turner has also stayed up to date on water issues via service on national, regional and local organizations including the EPA National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology, President of the Tri Rivers Waterway Development Assn., VP of the Apalachicola, Chattahoochee, Flint Stakeholders, and Treasurer of the Middle Chattahoochee Water Coalition. Always active in the community, Turner continues to serve on the St. Francis Hospital Board of Trustees, is a new Board member of the Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley and serves in volunteer roles at United Way and Columbus State University. Billy is a member of the Columbus Rotary Club and he and Judith, his wife of 52 years, are members of First Presbyterian Church where Turner is an Elder.
